Hello. My name's Luke and welcome to my podcast. Finding The Words is a space for reflection on communication, culture and purpose from the POV of a slightly jaded man in his early 40s. We'll be talking high level, as well as at an incredibly low level as well.
Hope you enjoy...

Hi, my name's Luke, and this is my podcast, Finding the Words. A podcast that's going to be looking at communication, culture, and purpose, as well as a few other little bits thrown in. Stick with me and let's have a good conversation. Hello everyone. First things first, an apology if you hear wheezing and slight moaning sounds in the background. I have a couple of elderly pugs having a snooze around my feet, so you might hear the odd snore from them. Um very cute, but not ideal for an introduction to a new podcast series. So it's something that I've I've always wanted to do since podcasts have become a thing. Um start my own, but I've never really took the bull by the horns, as it were, and and get to grips with it. So, you know, I I think the title speaks for itself in terms of of well, actually, it doesn't speak for itself. It needs a little bit of explanation. So finding the words, it works in a few different ways to explain what this podcast is about. So the first is the fact that I've always felt throughout my life that I'm not the world's best communicator when it comes to to speaking uh and and conversation. I often I often find it hard to relay the point I'm trying to make clearly, and I can get flustered and I can also clam up sometimes. So, really, this podcast is a way for me to to confront that and get better, get better at it. So even now, while I'm recording this, this is probably my fifth or sixth go. So fingers crossed, we make it through, and and it makes it to the final, final uh product. So, yeah, this is a way for me to improve on that communication and and just share that with an audience. Um, because nowadays, if you don't share it, is it worth doing? That's unfortunately the mindset we've got. But you know, I think bearing in mind that people may listen to this, it will keep me on track and honest to do one or two of these a week. So that's one reason why the podcast is called Finding the Words. The second and third and fourth are the three other topics it's gonna focus on. So that's communication, culture, and purpose. So communication, I've worked in communication my whole life, um, whether it's been writing for a magazine, updating websites, in external communication, internal communication, video, photography, it's all about communication, which obviously with that first point around finding it hard to do that verbally, I love doing it in every other format. So that's that's a particular passion of mine. So, you know, it's something that I do like to think about and and will like to talk about in this podcast, and and it segues nicely actually into the culture point as well. So, you know, when I look at culture and and I'm looking specifically at things like plays, concerts, etc. Again, it's it's all about communication, it's all about storytelling, it's all about people showing other people their view on things or someone else's view on things, if if in a play. And yeah, just how they do that, how that how that breaks through all the other noise that we've got going on um in the in the modern world. Then the final final topic is purpose. So I'm I'm in my early 40s, you know, my purpose throughout life has always been my career making money, to to keep a roof over my head, looking after my little doggies, and and my partner as well. So is that enough? Should there be something else? This is something that I've been battling with over the last over the last well year or two, to be honest, and I've done a lot of reading on it, listened to a lot of podcasts, and I've got some views and thoughts on it. So, yes, that's what this podcast is, isn't it in a nutshell? Um, I'm looking to do one or two posts a week. So yeah, let's let's do this, let's do this together. I'd love for you to join me. Um so yeah, thanks everybody.
